Hello Friends,

I hope this email finds you well. I want to start out by thanking all of you who came out to the last general Etsy Teams meeting. I found the session to be very productive, and your feedback to be quite excellent. For those of you who were unable to attend, there were three major areas we explored.

1. Team Grants: I have temporarily suspended this program, but intend to have it back up and running by late spring. In the past, people found the process of applying and receiving a bit cumbersome, so there will be changes made there. Furthermore, we all agreed that better tracking of the effectiveness of the grants was required, so we also be taking steps there. Finally, we discussed focusing the grants more directly on digital advertising etc.

2. The Virtual Labs: We discussed the best way the virtual labs can be used as a meeting place for Teams, and concluded that more education was needed, especially for Team leaders. Therefore, Danielle will be holding a workshop on Admin Status and setting up your event in the Virtual Labs on March 10th at 5pm. This will be the first of many regular sessions on this topic.

We also discussed what types of guest speakers you would like to see in the Virtual Labs. I have started a running list, and have scheduled our first event. On March 26th at 1:30pm please join representatives from meetup.com as they discuss how you can use their powerful tool to help organize and grow your teams.

We will be hosting at least one guest speaker per month.

3. Managing Team Profiles And The Teams Section: Quite understandably Teams want to update their own Team pages.  This is an important feature we really want too - but right now there are a few other top priorities our Engineering and Product teams- Namely improvements to search, checkout, and registration.  That said, we see the urgency around this, and intend to commit more resources to get this finished. I will keep you updated as things progress.

Recent and Upcoming Feedback Sessions with Teams:

Baltimore, MD: Last week I had the pleasure to meet with some of the fine women from the Baltimore Etsy Street Team. Tigerlillyshop, jenmenkhaus, vwstudios, and yabettasupadont all  joined me as I presented to attendees at the American Craft Council show in Baltimore. They discussed their experiences with selling on Etsy and being part of a very active Etsy Team. I want to thank them for their hard work and dedication.

Boston, MA: Maria Thomas, our CEO, spent last week meeting with members of Bostin Handmade. You can read about her meeting at their blog: http://bostonhandmade.blogspot.com/2009/03/visit-from-etsy-ceo-maria-thomas.html

Austin, TX: This Saturday evening, March 14th,  I will be meeting with members of the Austin, Texas  Etsy Team at Jo's Hot Coffee in Austin, TX. Please convo polishedtwo for more details.

San Francisco, CA: Finally, I will be in San Francisco for the first three days of April. I would be very interested in meeting up with a any Etsy Team members out there. Please email me matt@etsy.com and we can arrange something.

That's all for today, the next general Etsy Team meeting will be held on March 25th at 6:00pm.

Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for all you do.

Love, Matt and Danielle
