Welcome Newbies (and new at heart),
Getting your Etsy Shop started can be a little intimidating. I've created this special edition of Etsy Success to help get you started. Remember, the most important part about selling on Etsy is sharing your creative vision through your items. Be personal, have fun and don't give up!
Remember, you can find all of these links and so much more in our Seller Handbook.
A Beginner's Guide to Starting a Shop on Etsy
Ready to get your shop started? Don't know where to begin? This guide will help you find the help you need to get your shop up and running! From what to sell, coming up with a shop name and tips for listing your first item, this article is great guide for very new newbies.
Top 10 Tips for Newbie Sellers
If you don't know Sagittariusgallery, you should. Not only a painter and an experienced seller, she takes it upon herself to share informative Newbie Guides on the forums (and on the Storque too see here for her past posts).
Last year, we invited her to list her Top 10 Crucial Holiday Rush Tips for Newbie Sellers, but these tips hold up all year round!
My Top 3 Pointers for Newbies
1. Take Great Pics
Represent your items with gorgeous photos. You don't need a fancy camera, just some natural light and a steady hand. Here's an article called Photographing for Success to get your photos heading in the right direction.
2. Tag!
Many Etsy shoppers on Etsy are using Search to find items. Tags are directly related to search, so make sure you are using all 14 tags! Here's an article by HeyMichelle to help you.
3. Don't List and Run
Once you set up your shop, stay active on Etsy. Check out the Community area of Etsy, where you can find many ways to get involved.
Taking the Plunge
Do you have a successful offline business, but you're on the fence about selling online? This Storque article, Welcome to Your Online Presence, can help you decide if selling online is right for you. This is a Shop Makeover for the crafter or artist who has, as of yet, only delved into the real, "offline" world of selling their art, craft, or vintage wares. This makeover is meant to transform the physical "brick and mortar" seller into a lovely online indiepreneurial swan!
Sidenote: This is the perfect article to pass this article on to a friend you think would be right for Etsy!
