Welcome to the first Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp newsletter — I hope you are ready to work (and have a little fun)! Every Thursday I'll send you orders — I mean instructions — and together we'll make sure your Etsy shop is ready for the holiday rush. To stay motivated, get involved with other Boot Campers in this forum thread and on Facebook.

Are you in? Good! First thing you need to do is to take the Holiday Boot Camp Pledge.

We Need a Mascot!

This is a very serious boot camp, and we're going to need a mascot to cheer us on. Will it be Truman, the camouflaged English Bulldog or maybe Alfreda the grumpy guinea pig? Make your vote count!

Get Set up to Track Success
If you're going to make your shop a smashing success this season, we should make sure you can track your efforts. Have you installed your Etsy Web Analytics yet? Here's how. If you're one step ahead, check out my Design*Sponge Biz Ladies post, Using Web Analytics.

We'll dive into these stats in the coming weeks, so don't put this task off! If you need help, let the rest of us know in this week's Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp forum thread.

We're on a Mission!
I'm inspired by Seth Godin's ideas about the hierarchy of success:

"As far as I'm concerned, the most important of all, the top of the hierarchy is attitude. Why are you doing this at all?"

So your second task this week is to write out a mission statement. Why are you working your butt off this season? What is your motivation? Share it in this week's forum thread, or just post it to your fridge. You'll need it for inspiration when it's midnight and you have a dozen more packages to box up!
