The kids may be back in school, but that doesn't mean they must leave the double rainbows of summer behind. This week's How-Tuesday project is perfect for children of all ages. On her blog, 5 Orange Potatoes, Lisa teaches us how to make beautiful, iridescent rainbow ice. This simple project provides a lesson in science and colors, encouraging children to experiment while having fun.
Attention fellow Brooklynites! Help the Brooklyn Community Foundation celebrate Brooklyn’s local heroes with the First Annual Brooklyn Do Gooder Awards. You can nominate individuals online who display an outstanding sense of giving back locally — with their time, talent and charity — in one of the Foundation’s five fields of interest (Arts for All, Caring Neighbors, Community Development, Education and Youth Achievement, and Green Communities). Five winners receive $5,000 each to reinvest in Brooklyn’s nonprofit community. You can nominate from now until September 30, 2010 at DoGoodRightHere.org.
