Downtown – "Main Street" – is not just a place, it is a symbol: a symbol of the economic health of a community and the quality of life of its residents. In Delaware, our downtown gives us a strong sense of pride in our hometown. It is the heart of our community.
Did you know Main Street Delaware is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization? Our mission is to create a vibrant downtown experience for all and we accomplish that by hosting events downtown, supporting our small businesses, and more to create community in Delaware, Ohio.
The programs that Main Street Delaware oversees include monthly First Friday celebrations, weekly Farmers' Markets (May though October), the Summer Concert Series, the annual Chocolate Walk, Hidden Spaces Tour, Friendsgiving, and the Home for the Holidays downtown Christmas Experience which includes the Tree Lighting, Visits with Santa, Carriage Rides, the Holiday Parade and more!
Currently underway and almost complete, Main Street Delaware is working to create the Delaware Welcome Center! This project not only saves a historic building that was going to be demolished, but it creates a space for both residents and visitors to come in and relax, find information on businesses in the district as well as upcoming events, use the public restrooms and water fountain and much more.
