As a longtime Etsy shopper, merchandiser, and three-year veteran of Etsy customer support, I have had the unique advantage of seeing the buyer experience from many sides. I believe a big key to successful selling on Etsy is engaging people with a shop that looks beautiful and professional. Below I have included top Etsy selling "must-haves" I've gathered through the years from my personal experiences.


.Be Present
Tend to your shop by updating relevant messaging, filling out your profile and shop policies. Give shoppers confidence that you are a capable vendor, and show them that you care about communication. Featured Seller ottoman says, "I Convo the buyer as soon as I can to give thanks, let him or her know I confirmed address and payment and state when I will ship the pieces(s)."


.Have the best photography
Tell a story with your photos and engage buyers with a delightful shopping environment. Go for natural light and emotion. Gravitate towards simple backgrounds. Featured Seller knittles says, "Etsy is a very unique website where typical selling rules don't always apply, so being true to your originality will take you far."


. Be accurate
Help buyers find your shop through searches by making sure your information, such as location, spelling, Category, titles and tags, are correct. Use informative titles that explain what the item is. Featured Seller littlesaplingtoys says, "Once you have a full shop, keep working. Redo titles, descriptions, tags, and photos, and improve what you offer."


. Connect
Convo other sellers you like to say hello, invite your buyers to Convo you, heart items, make Treasuries, post on Etsy's blog, Tweet and Facebook your Favorites, join a Team, tell us your personal story in your profile. Featured Seller joojooland says, "I love Favorites and Treasury. I think the idea of the Treasury in Etsy came from a genius!"
