Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

In honor of the holiday I'm so excited to share that last week we reached and then surpassed the milestone of 1,000 active Etsy Teams! This is really remarkable and could not have happened without each and every one of you, so congratulations.
Curious who bears the honor of being number one thousand? Well, (drumroll please) the award goes to the Durham Region, Ontario local team.
BrisStyle's Handmade Ark Effort for Flood Relief
To contribute to the relief efforts for the recent flooding disaster in Australia. the Bisbane-based street team brisStyle has set up a "Handmade Ark Appeal" on their blog. The proceeds from any item sold in participating BrisStyle Etsy shops will be donated to the Premiers Flood Relief Fund. Visit the brisStyle blog to learn more about how you can get involved and to spread the word.
Boston Handmade Teaches Courses at a Local Adult Education Center
This month and next, Boston Handmade will be teaching a series of art-related classes at the Boston Center for Adult Education. The BCAE is the oldest nonprofit adult education center in New England and this project speaks to their ongoing support of the local handmade movement. Courses include a felted wool flower workshop and writing techniques for artists. Sounds like fun.
Other Etsy News

We've recently made some policy changes that specifically disallow items that denigrate people or promote hate. Read all about the specifics and our reasoning behind this decision in this blog post.

Have a wonderful week!
