November 17, 2009

For today's email, I've collected a few topics that we may not always think affect the growth of our shops, but could make the difference this holiday season.

. Top Notch Customer Service
You'll most likely chat with more customers in November and December than any other time of the year. My suggestion? Make good use of these interactions by providing the best customer service possible. Word-of-mouth marketing has always been a key part of running a great business — and now with even more ways for your customer to share an experience with say, a thousand of their Twitter followers, it's even more important to make a lasting impression. Our Service Tips for Sellers blog series covers our top tips for delighting your buyers.

The Etsy Merchandising Team has shared their plans for December. Included are a slew of promotion opportunities for sellers! Read about the trends, themes and winter colors our team will be highlighting here before you submit your items.

Still time to participate in the promotional opportunities for November here:

- Learn how to participate in Friday Etsy Finds in this Forum thread.
- Suggest and nominate items for the  Gift Guides in this Forum thread.
- Stay tuned to the Selling section of The Storque to learn how to get involved with our promotional plans for Black Friday through Cyber Monday.

December promotional opportunities:

- Suggest your favorite turquoise-related items in this nomination thread.
- Suggest and nominate items for the  Gift Guides in this Forum thread.
- Stay tuned to the Selling section of The Storque for additional promotional opportunities through December.

Learn more about these opportunities here.

Customer Service Workshop
Don't miss this week's Holiday Workshop for Sellers; our host will be StephanieFizer, Etsy seller and customer service guru. Stephanie suggests, "In customer service, it’s the little things that go a long way, so always remember to be friendly, honest and keep an open mind regarding your buyer’s perspective."  Drop in on this live workshop in Etsy's Virtual Labs this Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. to learn great customer service communication, and how to handle tricky situations with style and grace.

Danielle
