Hi! Tina Seamonster here again. For this episode of the Etsy Success newsletter, I am writing on behalf of the Hello Craft Summit of Awesome, a 3-day craft conference in Washington, D.C., happening this weekend, May 1-3. (If you cannot make it to D.C., your favorite Etsian, Daniellexo, will be broadcasting some of the learning and fun, live in the Virtual Labs.)

For many of us, success on Etsy may seem like a Rubik's Cube puzzle: So many sides to get right and just when you get one side solved, you have to undo it in order to get another side in place. Sorry for the deep thoughts, but my point is, there are tips and techniques to solve even the trickiest puzzles! The Summit workshops below offer a great place to start. What are you waiting for?! Success is in your hands!

First Things, First: Branding and Identity

. So you have a logo, now what? Successful branding crosscuts all
aspects of your business from products and marketing materials to cultivating customers. It is really difficult to find good, solid advice on small business branding. Many resources just want to sell you information, most of which is outdated. We'll present some fresh and bold ideas in this session, Branding and Identity, on Friday at 2:30pm EDT, with successful designer, illustrator and author Jeffrey Everett of El Jefe Design.

If your not in D.C., pop on by the Virtual Labs ... and if you can't make this session, it will be broadcast as a podcast on the Hello Craft web site after the Summit.

Be a Social Butterfly

.We all know that having a successful Etsy shop means talking to people! We have to tell people that we (and our products) exist. But how do you do this without sounding like a broken record? In the panel discussion, What's a Social Network and How to use it for Good, Daniellexo and Willo O-Brien (WilloToons.com) will teach you how online tools can be used to market your craft and help you connect to the larger crafting community.

When is it? Friday, May 1st at 11:30am. Where? You guessed it: Etsy's Virtual Labs.

Can't make this one? Check out my Storque article about how creating a crafting community inspired me.

The Big Picture

. With over 150,000 active Etsy sellers alone, learn what it takes to make your products stand out from the clutter that is the internet. At Selling Successfully Online, Daniellexo, Liz Grotyohann and Jeff Fein-Worton from the online eco boutique, Cosa Verde will share their top tips for running a successful online business.

Join us in the Virtual Labs on Saturday, May 2nd at 1:30pm to tune in.

Brush up on Etsy's top tips by checking out the Seller Handbook.

Meet Maria, Etsy's CEO!

.How often do you get to meet the CEO of Etsy? Maria Thomas, Etsy's very own CEO, will be giving the Craftnote speech at the Summit of Awesome on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 1pm EDT. Etsy will have their webcam turned on for this event too, so tune in to hear what Maria has to say to a room full of hungry crafters!

Wanna know what else Maria has to say? Check out her Storque articles, or learn more about her from her Etsy profile.

You can still secure a 3-day or single day pass to the Summit of Awesome, but space is limited. Even if you can't make it to Washington, D.C., we hope you will check out the Virtual Labs and take part in some of our programming online! Check out the Virtual Labs calendar for all scheduled broadcasts.

Go make something awesome,
Tina Seamonster
